In the week ending August 14, refinery margins rose across all three regions. Asian margins climbed $3.23 w/w to $39.40/bbl, while European margins ended at $27.54/bbl, with a change of $2.80/bbl (w/w). US refinery margins closed at $38.47/bbl, down $3.74 w/w. Asian and US margins eased on a m/m basis.

  • European Margins saw overall support this week, headlined by support in the M1 GO Crack, which climbed $9.35/bbl w/w. EBOB also supported the complex, with the M1 crack rising $1.83 w/w to $32/bbl on 14 Aug. However, a stronger Dated Brent complex removed some gains from the M1 European refinery margin.
  • Asian Margins climbed w/w down the curve, although the M1 margin largely moved sideways on a m/m basis. A stronger Dubai crude weighed on this margin, although strong products led the w/w rise in margins. This was driven by a stronger Singapore 10ppm gasoil, with the M1 crack climbing $9.38 w/w to $67.25/bbl. The M1 MOPJ crack and the Sing 0.5% crack softened w/w, although support in the M1 Sing 380 cst crack and Singapore 92 crack lent support to the Asian margin.
