As the Iran conflict enters its sixth week, there remains no clear path towards the war’s conclusion, with the Strait of Hormuz effectively closed to maritime traffic. Notwithstanding the extreme market volatility derived from attempts by the Trump administration to jawbone markets and shift sentiment, the value of Brent futures has risen by around 50% since the 27 February close.
